My Story

I am a wife and mother to two wonderful daughters, I was born and raised in Yuma, AZ where I reside now. My mother has always been into health but as children and teens do, I rebelled against it for some time. It wasn't until 2015 that I had my own health issues that sparked the need for change in me. It was 10 months after having my first daughter when I noticed my health was declining. I was stressed out, had brain fog, I was tired all the time and my gut health was not right. I went to my doctor who said it was postpartum depression and I was given an antidepressant, which I never took because I was breastfeeding. When my labs came back my thyroid numbers were all out of whack, and my actual diagnosis was Hashimoto's (hypothyroidism). I saw an endocrinologist, who prescribed me synthetic thyroid hormone replacement and I took it religiously. Yes, I did see some improvement but overall I still did not feel well. When I went back to my endocrinologist I asked if there was anything else I could do with diet, supplements or exercise because I still felt unwell most days. My endocrinologist just laughed and said "no, but I hear that from a lot of my patients" that was the last time I saw that endocrinologist. I left feeling defeated and knew there had to be another way. That's when I found functional medicine and its root cause approach, which was different to the western medicine I was used to, being a nurse. I started searching people in my area and found a nutritionist in California. I started seeing her and making changes using diet, and supplements and I started feeling more energy and my other symptoms started improving as well. My thyroid labs were also improving greatly with the changes I was making. I couldn't believe the difference I felt and was so inspired to help others in this same way. Over the years my passion for nutrition and functional medicine has grown and I finally received my certification as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2022. I love helping people make changes to feel their best and create health and am grateful to be able to provide nutritional therapy services to others.
